Help Name Their Beer!

Straight to Ale Brewing is giving you a chance to rename one of their Huntsville-made beers

Beer Huntsville’s Straight to Ale Brewing is giving craft beer fans a chance to rename their Stop Work 689 brew, which STA plans on releasing as their next canned beer in spring 2013.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — You long since bestowed a certain part of your anatomy with a proper name. Named your car, electric guitar, pet iguana and homemade steak-marinade – but you’ve never named a beer and seen that name printed on thousands of cans containing said suds.

The time has come to change this.

Huntsville’s Straight to Ale Brewing is giving craft beer fans a chance to rename their Stop Work 689 brew, which STA plans on releasing as their next canned beer in spring 2013. (Straight To Ale already produces its Monkeynaut India Pale Ale and Lily Flagg Milk Stout in cans.)

According to a post on the STA Facebook page, the brewing company is looking for a name to “better represent the brewery,” one that is “reflecting our hometown Huntsville, the state of Alabama, or even the South in general.”

Stop Work 689 is a traditional German kolsch-style beer that clocks in at 5.1 percent ABV (alcohol by volume).

E-mail name ideas to namethatbeer@straighttoale.com to be considered. The winner will receive a STA swag prize package, and e-mail time stamps will be used to determine the winner if more than one person submits the winning appellation.(AL.com)
