More Beer’s “Zythos IPA”

This is the first brew that we have used our new fermentation chamber.  We took an old mini fridge, did an override to the cooler so that it could rise the temp up to about 65F. Then placed the carboy inside with the blow out tube and shut the door. It seems to be working out quite well!

For this recipe, the fermentation chamber is set at 61F.

Corn Sugar 2oz Priming sugar used at bottling. Boil 2 cups of water with sugar for 5 minutes.
Crystal 40L 8oz Use a grain bag and steep to 170F. Remove and discard.

Tasting notes

Floral, tropical nose.Clean, medium bitterness.Finishes very hoppy, but not bitter. 7.5 ABV very inconspicuous, tastes more like 5. Very refreshing, smooth mouth-feel. The Zythos hop produce a fruit like, almost mango flavor. Excellent example of an alternative to Northwest style IPA.

    Do you have more info on your fermentation chamber? It looks like you used an old red bull fridge and I was just curious if that was the case. I like how compact it is.
