$18000 Worth of Craft Beer Stolen!

Delivery van, $18,000 worth of beer stolen Thursday night in Fayetteville

A thief on Friday nabbed plenty of specialty beer to celebrate with on New Year’s Eve.

A delivery van loaded with beer valued at $18,000 belonging to Millennium Beverage LLC of Charlotte was stolen, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The van was parked overnight Thursday in a parking lot of an apartment building in the 100 block of Lofton Drive. That is off Ramsey street in north Fayetteville. About 8:45a.m. Friday, the driver came out and discovered the van was missing, the Police Department said.

Fifty cases of 24 bottles each and 10 kegs were in the van, the police report says. The cases were estimated to be worth $15,000 total, and the kegs $3,000. That works out to $300 per case and $300 per keg.

The driver found three cases left behind in the parking lot, the department said; they were valued at about $43 each.

Millennium Beverage provides wine and craft beers to restaurants and beer and wine shops in North and South Carolina, its website says. Officials from the company could not be reached Saturday afternoon. The stolen beer van is a white 2002 Ford Econoline, with license plate DSI-1882.
